Local Partial Hospitalization Program for teen with anorexia

I am looking for recommendations from parents who have guided a teen through an eating disorder in the East Bay. I am looking for a PHP but all I can find are programs in Sacramento in terms of in-person which I think is better than virtual at this point. If you have helped/are helping your child heal from an eating disorder, please share with me what you know as my research is not leading anywhere, thanks.

Hello. I do not live in the East Bay  - - my daughter was an in-patient at Stanford  Hospital and then did a PHP at El Camino Hospital. Her battle with anorexia began at age 12 and continued through her high school years and into her college years. When my daughter was in the eating disorder ward at Stanford, my husband and I never missed a day visiting  - no matter her attitude.

This is a never-give-up disease. Our daughter is now a healthy 40 year old psycho-therapist but her road was a long and rocky one. I see that UCSF Benioff has an eating disorders division in Contra Costa. You will find a program. Good luck.

This is such a herd awfully illness. We navigated anorexia in our teen about 3 years ago. Healthy teen project  in San Francisco was a game changer. The PHP was in person and they had an IOP as well for step down. I remain eternally grateful to them.

Good luck

My child is currently in the PHP at Rogers Behavioral Health in Walnut Creek. We just started and I don't know how I feel about it yet. I know that they do treat eating disorders. It was recommended by our fabulous therapist...but so far I have not been wowed. However apparently they have good results according to what people have said. My child is not in the eating disorder program. But in any case it is a 45 minute commute. Good luck and I wish you well. I know how stressful this is.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this awful disease. We worked with Casey Crosbie for a year and a half while our daughter was dealing with a major depressive episode and disordered eating. She was great and also was at The Healthy Teen Project for many years—she highly recommends it. We didn’t end up needing to put our daughter in the program but would if her eating disorder behaviors came back. I’m sure Casey would be happy to consult with you and send more resources your way. https://www.crosbienutrition.com

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I don't know about the hospitalization programs, but wanted to pass along the name of a pediatrician who specializes in adolescent medicine - she used to work at Kaiser for many years and then opened up her own practice in the East Bay. In case you could see her on an outpatient basis at some point:  https://www.aspengroveayam.com/services-provided

Lauren Hartman MD is the name, she is wonderful.
