  • I have chronic sinusitis, dust allergy, and a deviated septum.  I've had multiple infections over the last 3 months, and have seen Dr. Liang at Kaiser without much success.  I'm looking for another specialist/ENT who can help me troubleshoot my frequent sinus infections, post nasal drip, headaches, and discomfort.  There were a bunch of old (rave!) reviews for a Dr. Drury but unfortunately, he's retired.

    Thanks!

I don't have extensive experience with him, but i saw Dr Shane Zim out of Kaiser Richmond after a sinus infection caused my eardrum to rupture, and found him helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. Good luck to you - sinus infections are the worst.

I know this is not exactly what you are asking for, but it was a game-changer for me.  I am not giving you medical advice and I am not in the same position as you, but previously for many years I would get month-long sinus infections after every cold, approximately 6 times a year.  I have completely eliminated these sinus infections by using Zicam Nasal spray during colds as recommended on the box.  It is an over-the-counter medication. Best of luck.

My husband sees Dr. Christina Corey at berkeley head and neck. He's had markedly bad sinusitis the last 3 years that has make him snore and sound like he has a cold all the time. She has him on a regimen of medication and nasal flushes, that has improved things by ~ 60%, which is a lot farther than he was getting on his own. We recently got 2 air purifiers (one for bedroom) and that probably got him about 10-15% better, which was pretty amazing. We are also changing our pillows soon to and help too. So he's not totally his normal self, but his 'new normal' is pretty good. Hope this helps!!!

  • Looking for a recommendation for a Kaiser ENT for a consult related to chronic sinus issues and possible surgery. Ideally would love to find someone at Kaiser Oakland or San Leandro but open to traveling further for someone highly recommended. I’ve searched the archives but am hoping to get some more feedback especially since most of the recs are for pediatric consults and/or aren’t super recent. Feel free to send me a DM if you prefer to not post publicly.

My husband just finished up with treatment for this nasal polyps. He saw Dr. Jonathon Liang at Oakland and was happy with the doctor's care. My husband had the option to try steroids and nasal rinses in lieu of surgery but wasn't very compliant, and ending up having the surgery. I met the physician at bedside for recovery, and also watched one of the surgery follow up visits. Hubby's clear sinuses were evident almost right away because he was no longer nasal and stuffed up sounding. Hubby followed post-surgery instructions to the letter. The surgery itself took place in Richmond. I have nasal polyps myself and if I could somehow manuever myself into his care, I would.
