We had a great experience this morning at Primary Teeth! Dr. Evan was kind, understanding, fun, and got the job done. My boy is 21 months old and part alligator.... we have been unable to brush his teeth at home no matter how hard we try. My husband and I were convinced that this dentist appointment would yield nothing and we would simply be just making contact. My son started freaking out pretty much immediately and would not be soothed by the giant alligator stuffed animal nor the giant toothbrush. However Dr. Evan magically pulled out some bubbles and my son redirected. Dr. Evan showed all the instruments and let my son try them. More significantly, Dr Evan, let me know that this sort of resistance wasn't unusual and how we would proceed. As we got ready to do a "lap hold" to see if Dr Evan could see inside my son's mouth, I was prepared to start apologizing. "I'm sorry, I know he's going to cry and struggle".... but Dr. Evan beat me to it. He told me it might get loud and we'd do it quickly. Dr. Evan started a very speedy inspection of my boy's teeth. And then he started singing Wheels on the Bus. I sang along. Between verses, Dr. Evan told the assistant a few words about the teeth and then kept singing. Two verses of Wheels on the Bus and one verse of Baby Beluga later, it was done. Some stickers, a balloon, and we're all set.
I came into this appointment embarrassed that we hadn't been able to brush my boy's teeth yet and convinced that no dentist would be able to manage. However, Dr. Evan kept things light and quick and informative. Highly recommend, 10/10.
