I highly recommend Peter Heckler. I too was looking for a dentist in Orinda (we moved here two years ago and wanted someone local). I tried another dentist first (Steven Russell - the Butterfly Dentist)- but found the experience unsatisfactory for several reasons (one reason was having to wait 30+ minutes before both appointments). Dr. Heckler came recommended by a fellow parent at my daughters preschool. I called the office and the woman who answered the phone took her time answering all my questions about the practice. When I arrived for my appointment I waited only 2 minutes. My second appointment I didn't wait at all. I had a root canal and a new crown. It was painless and easy. We travel from Alameda to Orinda to see Dr. Peter Heckler. My mom lives in o-town and see's him too. Great office, friendly, zero hardsell. Peter is laid back in demeaner but very, very professional. You will not be disappointed. Located in Orinda Village directly next door to Orinda Police dept; just up the hill from shell & chevron. 99% of the time we park right in front of the door... ~tell 'em jon & sheila sent ya!

I have been going to Peter Heckler for the last few years after he took over from Ralph Crabtree who had been my dentist for over twenty years & who I adored. I figured Dr. Crabtree would not sell his practice to anyone but the best, so I've stayed with the practice & have not been disappointed. Dr. Heckler is great, very calm & pleasant, does excellent work, easy to get an appointment with, and all the staff are friendly and efficient. I highly recommend him. anon
i highly recommend peter heckler in orinda. modern office, excellent staff and hygienists. everyone is top notch professional as well and very welcoming. peter is an excellent dentist, a genuinely nice guy AND does no upselling. he works with his patients in a very ‘team’ oriented way. easy access off the freeway. my husband and i both travel from alameda to see him. he’s well worth it.
dr. peter heckler's office is great. the only goods and services they have promoted to my husband or myself is floss and electric toothbrushes... from costco. granted, we both hit the dental lotto when teeth were being handed out, but still we've had a few issues come up and he took a wait and see approach. also, we choose to get X-rays every few years instead of annually and they are okay with that. very friendly and professional staff on all levels. also, they give very patient and thoughtful care to my elderly mother who has dementia. we hope dr. heckler never retires. :)
