Living in American Canyon
Parent Q&A
RE:
Moving to Fairfield? (Oct 6, 2022)
I cannot comment on Fairfield, but can recommend American Canyon. We are also a liberal, multiethnice family, and just moved to A.C. It's a great school district, very safe, lots of parks, INCREDIBLY diverse, not conservative like the rest of Napa County. The high school is only 11% white, and yet high performing academically (not very high), great resources, beautiful campus, great counseling support, wonderful sports and activities. It's only 30-45 mins to Oakland without rush hour traffic. The main draw back to AC for me is the lack of real town -- only 1 grocery store, 2 restaurants (1 fabulous), etc. We miss the liveliness of Oakland/Berkeley area but go in often for the weekends.

Hi,
Current resident of American Canyon. Been living here for 15+ years. I am not aware of a parent group such as BNP here in AC. My eldest has been out of high school for 3yrs now. Not sure how the academics are like now since they’ve just resumed back to in person learning this August. My child had a close group of friends as they all went to elementary, middle and high school together. Most of students know one another, due to the fact that there’s only 1 public middle school. I think raising teenagers anywhere is tough. They’re teenagers Lol
Best of luck,
S
