Where to get someone else to wash my down comforter?
I have an extra puffy king size down comforter. Last time the cat peed on it I tried washing it in my machine with disastrous results-—I think my machine wasn’t big enough, and it would not spin it dry. I know I’m not supposed to dry clean it, and for various reasons would prefer not to take it to a laundromat and wait for it to wash and dry. Is there a service that will clean it for me? It’s a nice comforter and I think it’s worth paying someone to do it properly. Any recommendations on the East Bay, preferably near Alameda? Thank you!

You can call around different rug cleaners to see if they will do a comforter. They're experienced at getting cat pee out of rugs.
I know you said no laundromats, but maybe call up or visit Sunshine Laundromat and see how you feel about it. They're located where College Ave and Broadway intersects in Oakland. They have BIG machines that will fit a comforter, and they have different things to treat different stains and smells if you do wash-n-fold with them. I haven't been there in about 3 years, but I always had very good experiences there (both when I did it myself and when I did wash-n-fold). t's a family run laundromat, the grandparents speak very little English, their adult son (Michael) speaks the most, so try asking him.
I can’t help direct you to a pro laundry, but I can say that over the last several weeks I’ve had a rescued male tabby cat peeing on lots of things in my house, and the magic wand that has totally erased the smell is soaking the fabrics in a strong mixture of white vinegar, baking soda and cold water (hot water will just bake it in forever). I soak for days, then wash with laundry detergent and cold water, then dry. Hope that’s helpful.
Can you use a friend's front loading washing machine that will spin more easily?
Also, make sure to use a down-specific product like this one: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/nikwax-down-wash-direct-laundry-deterge…
