Team retreat space near Berkeley for 8 people?

My work team is planning a retreat for ~8 people in the East Bay on Oct. 17-18, and we’re struggling to find a location. We need meeting space for both days, plus a place for everyone to stay (in individual rooms) 10/17-10/19. Meeting space and lodging could be the same or different places depending on what’s available. Berkeley or Oakland would be ideal, but we're open to other places nearby. Bonus points for locations with access to gardens/nature! We’re aiming for affordable but comfortable. Suggestions will be very much appreciated!

It's been years since I've checked into it, but the UC Faculty Club was affordable (compared to local hotels and such) when we used it and it's close to Strawberry Canyon for walks/hiking. I don't recall the parking situation, but could be worth checking in to.

If you are a non-profit, the Block Community Hub in Uptown Oakland offers a wonderful and FREE space! You might also want to look at Parks and Rec locations.  We have used the Joaquin Miller Community Center before for a group about the same size, and it was perfect (and beautiful).  Another suggestion is the Lake Temescal Room.  Good luck!

I plan a lot of local events and three spaces came to mind – 1) The Faculty Club at UC Berkeley. Nestled in a serene corner on campus with huge trees and lawns outdoors. They also can house guests (limited space, otherwise Hotel Durant is a quick walk). Classic interior. Attended both conferences and weddings here.  2) Berkeley City Club. Hotel. Indoor Pool. Amazing interior event spaces with fireplaces, library den, etc.. My personal fav. 3) Marriott Residence Inn has a beautiful rooftop and many indoor spaces for small group gatherings.  More modern.

I think you are having trouble because of UC-Berkeley's homecoming (and alumni and parent's weekend). Everything is booked. Good luck! If you move it to another date I think you'd have more options. We did that for a work thing too this year and were able to find spaces on the 21st.

Check out Dharma College. https://coworkingwithwisdom.com/?wbraid=ClMKCAjwlbu2BhBxEkMANWefgE05ZLwDZ4g_jXF_QeJPo7HlysT0LwqQ3KD4892JM4q_pArtnD_yLYDOu5ML93SsvIwjxEoXlpHTXmuFuIwwGgJ9xA

My team booked a room for a 2 day retreat with 7 people. Great location and convenient hotels within walking distance (several stayed at Hotel Shattack, locals took public transportation). Easy access to lots of food options as well. And the price was reasonable (I also think we may have negotiated a bit). Would definitely go back and happy to share other details if helpful.
