Speech therapy for 18 month old with receptive/expressive delay
We went through the Regional Center and our 18-month kiddo qualifies for speech therapy (no words, expressive and receptive speech delay). The center is looking into therapists for us, but said if we have insurance we'll have to find our own speech therapists first. Does anyone have recommendations for speech therapists in the Oakland/Berkeley areas (or better yet, ones who are willing to come in-home or to preschools, like the ones the Regional Center offers?). Tons of places we've called have long waitlists, so we're looking for any and all recs! Thanks!

I'm not sure if you've found a speech therapist yet, but while you wait there are many things you can do at home to help encourage your little one. Most of language early intervention is around educating the parents so some therapists have created at-home lessons for you to learn how to best interact with your kiddo and help with language building, as well as recorded story times that emphasize language development. Wee Talkers, Raising Little Talkers and Rise and Sign are a few to look into.
