Recommendations for a mediator for child support?
Posting because the archived q&a on this is pretty dated. My coparent and I need to come up with a formal agreement on child support for our toddler, and are looking for someone in Berkeley or close by. It would be good to find someone who comes across as fair to both sides and who has expertise in ]child support law. Thanks!

Child support is probably the co-parent issue that needs the least mediation-- it's just math. The state has a formula and you can access the calculator online. Just plug in your numbers (income, exemptions, child care costs, etc.) and the percent time the child has with each parent and you get your objective and fair amount of support. Even if you take it to court, there's not much, if anything, to be negotiated. As long as you already have a custody plan in place, it's simple and easy. The Alameda county Department of Child Support Services can help, too.
