Q for recent campers at Art Discovery Camp at Frances Albrier?
I have an 8 year old daughter interested in theater and arts. The Art Discovery Camp at Frances Albrier looks good. It says they do "dance, theater, public speaking, culinary projects and nature exploration."
The previous reviews were probably from COVID times and they suggest there's not actually real time spent on theater.
For someone who had campers attending in 2023 and 2024, was there a lot of time spent on theater and dance?
What's the balance of being inside and outside, do they run around some?
This seems like the most affordable option for summer camps that incorporate theater. If you have other ideas, please let me know.
Thanks

Hi! My kid has done the San Pablo Park summer camp on and off for the past six years and really enjoyed it. Depending on the week, they do some art, dance, and theater, but it’s primarily just a regular day camp. They do a lot of çapture the flag and games like that. They also swim at West Campus Pool once a week. It’s a great camp, but just have your expectations set. It’s not Berkeley Rep or anything.
My kids did this camp last summer, and are doing it again for a couple of weeks this summer. As another commented, it's not overly theater/arts-focused - they did do some dance and crafts, TBH I don't recall them mentioning theater the two weeks they went. But it's primarily a day camp, they get a lot of outdoor time + a field trip day, with a few arts activities built in throughout the week. My kids liked it and it's a great affordable camp option, but you're not going to have the same 'theater' experience as Berkeley Playhouse, etc.
