More advanced theater programs/classes for 4th grader
Hello everyone,
My daughter absolutely LOVES performing - singing, dancing, and acting. She has done 3 musical theater classes/performances through Kids n Dance and another through Berkeley Playhouse. While they were all wonderful experiences, she seems ready to take things up a notch and participate in classes that are more skills-focused.
I had thought that the Triple Threat classes through Berkeley Playhouse started in fourth grade, but it seems they start in fifth. Kids n Dance offers a tween and teen option for kids "who are ready for a much larger commitment. Cast members work on the development of character, accents, vocal techniques, presentation, and dance skills." This sounds like just what we are looking for, but unfortunately I must have missed a step in the online registration for Fall 2024 as I got a receipt for payment, but it turned out she didn't get a spot (This was within hours of them opening the registration! It's so hard to get into camps and classes around here! But that's a vent for another post, haha ;).
Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows of other opportunities for a fourth grader to advance their singing, dancing, and acting skills? We are already set for summer camps and looking more into after school classes for the 2024-25 school year. Thanks so much!

You might want to consider San Francisco Girls Chorus. I realize that it's not the same as musical theater but your daughter would be able to learn a lot about vocal technique and would get the chance to perform. The East Bay classes are held on Wednesdays and Fridays in Emeryville. You can sign up for a placement for next year as well as learn more about the chorus school at https://www.sfgirlschorus.org/singwithus
Berkeley Rep School of Theater and A.C.T. Young Conservatory (in San Francisco) for acting and singing, and Shawl Anderson for ballet, modern dance and jazz dance.
