Looking for Kids Jui Jitsu Recomemmdations

My 8 year old daughter could really use the physical outlet, confidence, and discipline of Jiu Jitsu. We are in North Berkeley. She is reticent to try new things, especially when she feels like everyone else is more skilled than she is. Do you have any recommendations? Someone had recommended Estrella on San Pablo but it looks closed now.

Thank you!

Hello. My kiddo just started at NorCal jiu-jitsu on San Pablo in Berkeley. He is also reluctant to try new things but felt welcome there. We aren't too far into it, but so far it seems awesome. Unfortunately, you do join a class that is continually happening but the teacher (Allen) didn't make a big deal and just gave support as my kid got up to speed. They do a free trial day, so she could try it and see how she feels. Good luck! https://www.sbgnorcal.com/

My advice would be to do a google search of brazilain jiu-jitsu gyms in the area and see if any of them offer a kid's schedule that works for your family.  Ralph Gracie's gym on sacramento st in south berkeley might be an option but it's farther away from where you live.

Misfit Combat in Emeryville has a kids jiu-jitsu class on Thursdays and a kids martial arts class on Sundays. We've only gone on Sundays, the instructors are great and it's very low key and fun.
