Landscaping help on a budget?

Hi BPN! We are looking for someone to help us redo our front yard landscaping. It's a relatively small yard, and we're hoping not to spend too much (maybe $3K max?) because at some point down the road we want to do more extensive / costly work to the front of the house (demo driveway and front porch, add drainage and pavers, etc.) so we may end up having to redo the landscaping again.

Do you know of landscapers who take on smaller projects and who could also guide me in doing some of the work myself? I'd love to learn more about landscaping / gardening and get my hands dirty but I don't know where to start. Thanks so much!

You should look into EBMUD’s Landscape Design Assistance Program which is great for smaller projects. You book a 2-hour session with one of the program’s approved professional landscape designers and receive recommendations on plant choice, layout, and/or irrigation ideas. You pay the designer a $200 fee at the time of service and then EBMUD reimburses you upon successful completion of your landscape project.

I can recommend Laura Kukulski with Wild Things Garden Design who is part of this program.

EBMUD has a rebate program.  Won't cover $3,000, but gives some guidelines, and includes for 2 hours with a landscaper that has been approved for such projects.  I have started the process and so far it is smooth going.  https://www.ebmud.com/water/conservation-and-rebates/rebates/lawn-conversion-rebate?fbclid=IwY2xjawEvYWNleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHY6ynJk5NruKsenx3d7D3N3bFULq-b8IShDT7fBWtN4vc0epSl3JiOAuBg_aem_Ndx781ArIlrr46RDErF-1w

Hi-  I recommend Keeyla Meadows who recently redesigned our front yard. She did a beautiful job with a water sparing, elegant design.  www.keeylameadowsgardensandart.com  Good luck.
