Kindergarten at The Berkeley School?

We are looking at TBS for our kindergartner and were wondering if any current parents could comment on their experience.

Hello! Our kid has been in TBS for one year of pre-school and now attends Kindergarden.  The whole experience has been amazing and enriching!  Their teacher in K is an awesome, grounded, wise person who finds the best in the child and is able to coach them gently to stretch their learning.  This coupled with a small class helps the teacher to navigate through the day and different activities while singing to get their attention and cooperation.

I was wondering how academic it was going to be and to see my child counting, adding, subtracting and now reading and writing sentences to their own pictures is a glimpse into how much their brain is learning at this point.  They are always happy to go to school and ask why there is no school on weekends, so that is a testament to how happy they are.

In addition, the art class, PE, Spanish and music teachers also offer more and diverse experiences.  I am jealous sometimes to learn about the different activities they do, for example having visiting artists present their work and then work on their technique.

I would encourage you to visit the school, meet the teacher and head and see for yourself what makes this place so unique.

We absolutely love kindergarten at TBS! Danette is an incredible kindergarten teacher who balances fun/play with real learning. Our son has been blossoming there this year. He's excited about learning to spell, loves art and music, and always wants to teach us what he's learning in Spanish class. He's also learning to be a thoughtful community member, and the children have these amazing discussions that you wouldn't expect from 5 and 6 year-olds. We're just so grateful our son is happy to go to school each morning. Couldn't recommend it enough.
