House Cleaning Rates
We have a very good house cleaner who has been working for us for several years and I want to make sure we are paying her a proper amount. Our house is a three bedroom, one and a half bathroom, good size kitchen, living and dining rooms with a family-tv room and a small office. The bedrooms are on the second floor with the full bath. Only one bedroom is used as just my wife and I live here without pets. She comes every two weeks, works for 3 hours and we pay her $200. Please let me know if you think we are paying enough as we do not know what the prevailing wage is at this point. Thank you.

We pay less with a lot more mess -- kid toys and crumbs everywhere... (3 bed/1.5 bath, small kitchen). I think you're paying pretty well. Your post makes me think perhaps we should give our person a raise... I do see a big range of pay for house cleaners.
My house is a bit smaller than yours (no family room or office) but our house cleaner comes for 4 hours. We pay her $250. So we're paying close to the same price/hour as you. I do also give a large Christmas bonus ($800).
I think your rate is good. We pay $230 every two weeks. Our house is smaller (no office or TV room) but we are a family of four with two messy teenagers and a dog.
We pay $160 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1200SF home. I pay attention to how long the cleaners are here and calculate their hourly wage to make sure it's at least $25 per person per hour. I think you're paying well!
Consider square footage and the extent of clutter. For comparison sake, I am a single person household. 1-bed/1-bath. Minor clutter. $80 every 2 weeks. Would like to hear from more folks on this topic.
That sounds generous to me and in line with even what someone with much more mess would pay. We pay a similar amount and are always sure to thank our cleaner, give gifts for things like Christmas in an amount of one clean, and small things like send a text of appreciation when we arrive home to our clean house, and a small gift for things like her birthday, maybe some chocolates and a coffee gift card for Valentines, etc. (we have known her over 3 years now)
Its so hard to find a good cleaner you trust in your home, it sounds like you are very mindful of that :)
We pay $140 for 1300 square feet (we're fairly tidy but have some kid and pet mess). We were paying $120 but I upped it last year.
We pay what amounts to $40-50/hr and provide all the cleaning supplies. I feel that our cleaner does a surface level cleaning (for example dusting the furniture but not wet cleaning). We "prep" our house by doing all the dishes, picking up everything off the floor and moving items into cabinets to avoid breakage. To me square footage matters less than how hard you use your kitchen and bathrooms.
