Hep! Getting desperate for childcare summer '25 - leads?
Help, BPN!
I'm sure many of you can relate to this problem: I'm getting desperate to find childcare. We are having our long-awaited second next month (Feb.) and I've been trying to get care that will start summer '25 set up for months but I'm striking out all over the place! I know we could pursue a nanny/nanny-share route, as that seems very common, but a daycare would be the best fit for our family. I'm not ready to give up hope that we can find something great. Specific ask for help - I'm trying to get in touch with Leigh's House, as it seems to fit a lot of our needs, but I can't figure out how to contact them! Can anyone help??
Here's what we're looking for:
- Location: close to Rockridge - our older kiddo is at Chabot Elementary and we'd would like to keep drop-off/pick-up chaos to a minimum (e.g., Rockridge, Temescal, Piedmont, South Berkeley, maybe west Emeryville neighborhoods)
- Hours: Full-time care (minimum 8:30am to 5pm, M-F)
- Age: Spot for ~5-6 month old
- Timeframe: July/August 2025 start
- Type: We'd rather find a smaller in-home daycare vs. a center, but open to anything (esp. as a stopgap?) at this point
- Feel: Warm! Loving! Community! Supportive!

Have you tried Cato’s Tiny Tots?
Hi Adrianne, congrats! I’m not sure if she has any openings but your unicorn daycare does exist—it’s called Little Friends Daycare and it’s a home daycare in Upper Rockridge. The woman who runs it, Yasmine, is an angel and is sooo incredible. We had both of our infants/toddlers in her care (they are now 5 and 3) and it was the best. Happy to answer any questions you might have but I would first check to see if she has openings as she only takes a small amount of babies/toddlers at a time.
We just started at Pattys Family Daycare and I believe they are enrolling still. They are lovely and send pictures every day, log naps and bottles in the app. They are right next to San Pablo park so can’t for our son to be able to explore when he is big enough
