Gum grafts after invisalign--good idea? by whom?
Hi,
I needed invisalign after an accident but now the gums on many of my teeth have significantly (and painfully) receded, and a lot of the roots are exposed. I gather my teeth and the connected bone are also now at risk--do people recommend gum grafts, and if so, by whom (in or near Berkeley, if possible)?
Thanks a lot!

Hi there, no advice for you other than that I like my periodontist, Dr. Ryan Horn, in Berkeley just off Ashby.
I was told I needed gum recision surgery and went to consults. Thankfully I found Dr. Keeper in San Francisco. His office is in a medical building and it was well worth the trip to the city (easy to access from BART). Instead of gum surgery I've had a non-surgical solution that involved painting a coating on my teeth at the gum line. It's been a few months now and my teeth feel so much better and pain free and it seems like I'll be able to avoid gum recision. Highly recommend.
I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have a recommendation, but I had a bad experience with Dr. Prat at the Dental Touch. He convinced me to try a newer "pinhole" graft that didn't work, and we had to redo it the normal way with donor tissue later on. The second graft has held fine for 10 years. I highly recommend the "normal" graft procedure. I wish you the best of luck.
I had a gum graft from Dr. Vassilopolous at North Berkeley Dental Arts. I also had recession from Invisalign. He did a great job and I recommend him 100%. That being said, I thought it would be a minor procedure but it hurt like hell and my whole face was majorly bruised and swollen. I looked like the Godfather, literally, for at least a week. So just go into it mentally prepared!

She’s very knowledgeable on full body health including oral health. I’ve seen her for years and she’s given me an incredible functional medicine supplement program.
