front door adjustment
Hi, our front door is sticking badly. It's gotten to the point that we have to kick it to open it after unlocking. Not sure who to contact. Carpenter? Can anyone recommend someone or company that can fix our front door so it opens and closes smoothly? Thanks!

Our big wooden front door does this too, mostly when there hasn't been rain and the clay-like soil under our house has contracted. You might try watering near your door for a good long while (like say 30 minutes, just leave the hose to fill up the clay soil -- which is difficult while we're in a drought), then see if it unsticks. If it is seasonal like ours is, I would be careful making permanent changes to the door since it will change with the seasons. That said, this year ours got so bad that my spouse used a plane to shave down the threshold so the door would close and open again. A carpenter, door specialist, or even handyperson could do this if they have good door experience.
Hi there,
I recommend our carpenter JC who works with mariposaremodels. He builds entire wood structures but does small jobs on weekends. He is better with text but sometimes answers: 510.982.5007. Good luck with the door.
Same thing was happening to us and it was so frustrating! We just wanted this you tube video and followed the instructions and it worked! Our door is a metal door so there was also one spot in the top that we had to hammer down. Now we almost fall into the door because we were so used to pushing it to open it lol.

You could try Zach Moran at Birdsong Building- he re-did our front porch and fixed the back door. I don't have his contact info but he is great.
