Financial counseling / couples therapy
My husband and I are looking for a hybrid financial counselor / couples therapist who can help us come to terms with issues we've had in the past with managing money, and creating a specific financial plan to meet our goals -- get approved for a mortgage, saving for a down payment, etc.
We're not high net worth individuals who need a financial planner for investing (wish I was!) --- and the only relevant advice I could find on here is almost ten years old. Let me know if you know someone!

While you're looking for professional you're wanting, I suggest taking a look at YNAB (You Need a Budget). It's not just another budgeting software; it's a new way of thinking. If I had used this since the beginning of my marriage, I'm convinced our retirement savings would be double by now. Even in the last five years it has given my husband and I much clarity, improved our bottom like, and saved us from many disagreements, because it makes "reality" so clear. The YNAB folks have fun, lively get-started and problem-solving presentations on their website (like how to save when expenses are high, how different couples handle differences in income or preferred lifestyle), as well as stories of people recovering from some pretty serious budget problems. I have no affiliation with them, just love the product.
