Feedback about Oakmore - for a young family
Wanted to see if anyone might have notes on how Oakmore is for a young family expecting their first child? We have previously only focused on Crocker Highlands / Trestle Glen / Glenview, but found the floorplans of the houses there aren't ideal or the houses themselves are too old.
We found Oakmore to be a charming neighborhood, and still very close to Park Blvd. But if anyone here has specific notes on how family friendly it is, or whether theres young families here, it would be helpful! Thank you so much!

We just moved to Oakmore a few months ago. There is a mix of families and some older couples. I see kids riding bikes frequently and a lot of couples pushing strollers around. It's very charming and like you, we also considered Trestle Glen. It was just a matter of finding the right house (which we did in Oakmore). Views are great. A little more quiet than Trestle Glen. You can walk to Rockys, Red Boy Pizza or a great thai place. Park blvd is about 20 min walk. Depending on where you are, you can walk to Dimond park. In Upper Oakmore, there is no walkable park although there are trails. The lower half of Oakmore has sidewalks, but the upper portion does not.
We have been living in the lower part of Oakmore for a little more than two years, with two young kids, and feel that it is a great neighborhood to be in with our family. We live within walking distance of Rocky's (a great family-friendly place to get groceries and breakfast/lunch), Dimond Park (playground, fields, and fun hiking trails), and the Dimond and Glenview shopping areas, plus the Dimond Library. Our block has kids ranging in age from 1.5-9, and some families with college-age kids, as well as some older couples/residents. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the neighborhood!
Hello, there are a mix of young and old living in the area. In ours and the two streets nearby in upper Oakmore, there are at least 5-6 families of newborn and toddlers. It's a welcoming neighborhood.
