Eye Dr Recommendation for Persistent Fetal Vasculature
Does anyone have recommendations for pediatric ophthalmologists in the Bay Area with experience or specialization with persistent fetal vasculature?
My 1yo nephew was diagnosed with PFV at 3 months of age. In his case, fluid builds up behind his eye which leads to a build up of pressure which threatens his eye site. To date, he has had 4 surgeries attempting to permanently reduce the pressure but they have only been able to reduce the pressure temporarily.
My brother and his family would like to relocate to the Bay Area but are concerned with finding a doctor with expertise in this area.

Hi there!
I recommend the ophthalmology team at UCSF. He will very likely need various specialists for his condition, and that network is great at coordinating care and ensuring each aspect of his health (eye or otherwise) is considered while staying updated with current therapies. Also, some of their ophthalmology specialists are located at their East Bay location on San Pablo Ave in Berkeley, so they may not need to go to San Francisco very often.
