EBI Summer Camp - recommend or no?

Hello,

We recently moved to the area and started our daughter in Berkeley public school (TK), but previously she was in Spanish immersion preschool for ages 1-4. We're thinking about the EBI summer camp as an option to try and help her keep her Spanish, but wondering about the quality of the care. Do any area parents have any perspectives they could share on the quality of the summer camp program at EBI, in particular for a rising kindergartener? We're looking for something more on the structured side I think.

Thanks!

Hello!  My children, 3, and 5, are at EBI, and I could not recommend it more highly.  They both started there time there as campers before becoming students, and the camp was wonderful even though they didn't know the school.  The teachers are warm and joyful, the weeks are themed and full of thoughtful activities planned by skilled career educators, and the program runs smoothly.  You and your daughter will love it.

My son went to EBI for preschool and two years of summer camp. It's not as magical as the school year, which is amazing, but camp was still pretty good. Each week has a different relatively immersive theme and the kids come with a lot of art at the end of each week. The kids get a good bit of outside time on the play structure and scootering/tricycling on the blacktop, often with music playing.  It's a more pared down version of the preschool experience essentially. The camp staff are great and the ratios are good. I think you'll find that most of the campers are current or former EBI students but I wouldn't let that put you off.

Our nephews went to EBI full time before moving out of the area, and they LOVED it. We did a one week summer camp there last summer and had a positive experience as well. Our kiddo was younger, so can’t speak to the structure for a rising K, but in general I’d recommend EBI.
