I always thought this Taiko drumming would be great, because of the simplicity of the form. But it seems they only offer ages 8+ currently. Maybe if enough of us are interested we could see if there were toddler classes. https://www.otaiko.org/classes
We love Jon’s school of music. He has classes for different age ranges. I have a 2 and a 4 year old in his class. They call it “drum class” because a large part of the class is spent learning on 3 kinds of drums (small floor drum, electronic drum set, and acoustic drum set).
Before finding Jon’s class we called around to a lot of places about drum lessons and I was told the kids are too young. We love that Jon spends so much time on the drums, but also gives them opportunities to play other instruments, learn notes, proper vocabulary and music theory. Highly recommend!
I’m here to second Jon’s School of Music! My son takes his class, and like the other poster mentioned, drums are one of the instruments the kids get to play each class. My son is OBSESSED with the drums, and maybe even more obsessed with Jon! He’s a fabulous teacher, and we have such a good time there.
Hi! Our kids both went to Jon at Jon’s school of music at that age. He’s got awesome energy and a really dynamic, engaging teaching style. He has tiny drum kids just their size!!! Our 6 year old still goes and he looks forward for his class every Sunday. It’s the only extracurricular activity that’s really clicked for him. We love Jon’s school of music at Virginia-McGee Totland. He has classes for different age ranges and skill/interest levels. Our son is kinda into the instruments, but REALLY into Jon. We go for the entire experience :)
Both of our kids (age 20 mo and 4 yo) have loved Jon’s school of music! They get to play drums (acoustic and electric) as well as several other instruments. They are learning musical skills and techniques, but he makes it so fun!

Jon's School of Music in Berkeley is great for this age. He offers classes that let kids explore a range of instruments, including drums.

Our toddler loves drums and has a set at home, he loves going to Jon’s School of Music in Berkeley where they play 2 sets of drums every class!
