Dog boarding recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a place/person that watches dogs overnight or does doggy day care? We've been keeping our Labrador at Oakland Wag and he's returned badly injured twice, and I just can't bring him back. If anyone has a place they trust, I cannot tell you how much I would appreciate the recommendation!!!

My dog had a similar bad experience with Wag & Happy Hound - since then I've been bringing him to Just Pet Me on Broadway for doggy daycare and he has never had an issue. I haven't used them for overnight though. For overnights or if I'm gone for several days I find someone on Rover.

I used to board my dogs. My new solution is Rover.com and I get a house/dog sitter. My house is occupied which feels safer and my sweet dog gets to keep to her routine and sleep in her own bed. I have had only good experiences! The cost is the same as for high-end boarding.
Have a great trip!

We have a six year old lab that has been doing day care, overnight and longer stays at Metro Dog which is right off the freeway in Richmond Annex.

We could not be more pleased with the care and socialization that he has received there.  Everyone there from the owner on down is focused on creating an excellent experience for dog and owner.

Their program and protocols are laid out very clearly on their website - I urge you to check it out.

n. b., he has come home sore or a bit gimpy on occasion from playing so hard (as labs will do), but always snaps right back, and NEVER any other problem.

Even if it is too far for daily day care, Check it out for a weekend or vacation stay.

I highly recommend it.

I recommend finding an individual dog walker who will board your dog at their own home.

We've boarded our dog at Berkeley Dog and Cat Veterinary Clinic and were very pleased with them.  There's no play time with other dogs, so no chance of being injured by that.  They potty them and let them out in their enclosed yard one dog at a time.  Prices are very reasonable too.

I just recommended Berkeley Dog and Cat, then remembered we used to use Metro Dog A LOT and never once had a problem.  They are on Pierce Street at Central in Richmond, near Point Isabel Dog Park.

Definitely don’t take your dog back to that place! I board my dog constantly abd he has never been injured ever. I use sitters from rover.com. They’re great. You can also call your vet and have a vet tech care for them. There are many safe options, just look at reviews and don’t send the dog to a kennel.

I have used Metro Dog for many years now for daycare a few times a month and also for overnight care when we go on vacation. They've been particularly attuned to my very anxious dog, and we have not had issues with him getting hurt. They do some short visits with dogs playing at the center before officially letting you sign up for daycare, which I think is good.

I have had good luck on Rover.com. You can search for exactly what you need (dog boarding, housesitting, day care, etc.) and set the parameters you want. Good luck!

I also highly recommend MaryCatherine Cross and Walking Waggums. Our small dog has had many fine stays with her. (https://www.walkinwaggums.com/)

We've boarded our pup at Dog Social Club in West Oakland and he absolutely loves it. He also goes there for doggy daycare, so I think it'll depend a bit on whether your dog enjoys playing with other dogs. The place is worker-owned, has a lot of space, and the staff is very caring.
