Daycare for 12 Month Old (with August availability 😬)
We're in a pinch needing to find replacement full-time childcare by the end of the month. Any advice would be appreciated!
Daycare recommendations for a 12 month old in Walnut Creek or surrounding areas? Open to Berkeley / Oakland if it's located near Hwy 24. Both in-home and childcare facilities ok.
Ideally:
- Availability by August (next month)
- Open until 5:30 or 6:00pm
We know the timeline is a tall order, but it's the situation we're in. We can possibly cobble together care for a Sept / Oct start.
We'd love:
- Spanish-speaking program / caregiver
- Lots of outdoor play
Not interested in a nanny or nanny share. (We've had an amazing nanny - we're intentionally transitioning to daycare.)

We love our daycare in Berkeley, near Ashby Bart and not far from the 24. It's called Wonder Babysitter, and they recently opened (about 5 months ago they moved from their SF location) so they may still have space :) Our baby has been there since she was 9 months, now is 14 months and brings her backpack to the front door in the mornings because she loves it and wants to go to "school"
You can check out Mizz ada’s daycare it is in Berkeley its a family orient child care but my son has learned so much in the last two years. Nice backyard for kids and very nurturing.
Childtime of Martinez (near the border of Pleasant Hill) is open until 6. My son went there from age 4 mos to 5 years old and just recently graduated. They have Spanish lessons for older children and there are Spanish speaking caregivers but the program is run in English. Lots of great educational, developmental and fun activities. It’s also a very secure facility.
