Creative movement for boys-Mvmnt Studio, Luna, other?

My 7 year old son loves to do "cool" dance and martial arts moves, but isn't interested in girl-dominant dance or regular martial arts class. What's the culture of Mvmnt Studio? Eg: I am ok with grifitti art but think griffiti without permission is wrong. I think being explicit about that and other values issues is needed for younger kids. Any experience with boys in Luna dance? Does capoeira allow more creative movement? Love to get your input and recommendations, thanks!

Have you considered circus arts for your son?  It has some elements of gymnastics but also elements of dance and having fun!

My stepson is not interested in circus arts but I am an adult who picked up aerial and other circus arts starting at the age of 35. To answer your question re capoeira, yes it does allow for creative movement. Some of the younger 20-something circus young adults that I train with, do capoeira and combine it with hip-hop dance and acrobatics.

In the East Bay, you could look at Athletic Playground and Kinetic Arts as circus/dance options for your son.

Best of luck, Helen
