I was able to get all of the family film and video tapes transferred by Digital Roots Studio on Solano, great results and would highly recommend. It was nice to finally get it done and not have to ship to a place outside of the state.
Another vote for Digital Roots. We did my parent's tapes, and they did such a wonderful job that we just took in all of my MIL's tapes too. They charge by the length of time, not the tape, which is nice because some of our tapes had almost nothing on them. It took them about 2 weeks to turn around 8-9 hours of video.
I'll add also that if your tapes are from the 90s, I'd try to do them sooner rather than later -- the tapes degrade over time, and a few of ours didn't make it.
Thank you so much to the person who recommended the Digital Roots Studio! This is ridiculous, but I have a bunch of Sony Mini Disc recordings of my grandparents from 17 years ago that I haven't been able to figure out how to convert to a modern format. We've tried all sorts of things but kept hitting dead ends, and in the interim, both of my grandparents died (over a decade ago). I wrote to the Digital Roots Studio and they will be able to help us!
