Bentley Upper School

We'd love to hear some more current feedback on Bentley Upper School. Our child is applying for 9th grade. Some of the BPN reviews are older, so I would so appreciate if any current Bentley families could share their current experience. Thanks so much!

My daughter graduated from Bentley in 2023 and she had a very good experience, even through Covid. Older reviews of Bentley are not great because the head of school at the time was not well-liked by teachers or families; the new head of school is much better and there is now less teacher turnover and happier families. My daughter had some incredible teachers and a few duds (like at any school). The size of the school is great, not too small but she was known by all the teachers and the administration and had good relationships with them. One thing I loved was that the kids were high achieving but not super-competitive with each other like at some of the other local high schools - there was no "what did you get on that test?" kind of thing. For the most part the kids were kind to each other. My daughter is now at a very highly regarded college and was totally prepared for the coursework. We would recommend Bentley.

I have a child at the school currently, positives include walk on sports, great academics, support and college counseling.  They have fixed the bus schedule that was a big issue last year, and there are kids from all over, so if your kid is not coming from the lower school it is not a big issue.  I think the one issue for us is the language and arts schedule at the same time so getting your preferred language and art can be daunting.  Administration does their best.  Also the mini term options were lack luster last year which had been a major selling point for my kid.  We have not seen the options yet this year.  Overall a solid choice, but you should really visit and make sure your child feels welcomed.  When we interviewed it was virtual and my child chose it because everyone seemed to really like their school.
