African American woman therapist
My friend is looking for a therapist / psychologist who is African American and a woman. She is in Oakland but willing to drive. She has Kaiser but previously has paid for short term therapy out of pocket, but that person is no longer available. She prefers someone mature/experienced. My therapist couldn't suggest anyone. Thank you very much for any suggestions.

I most highly recommend Anita Barnes. She practices in Oakland near Lake Merritt. She is down to earth, funny, no nonsense, and warm. She is an African-American woman who I would guess to be in her 50s. I haven’t been to see her in a few years, but I assume she is still in practice. Her number is 510-452-0991. I hope she’s a good fit for your friend.
I’ve seen Aviance Rhome-Boroff, who fits all the criteria specified, at Kaiser Richmond for the last few years. She is terrific.

Jacquelyn Gardner is a black woman therapist who is older and has been practicing for many years. She's located in San Francisco. Highly recommended.
