Puppy Trainer

Hi BPN. We are adopting a puppy in the new year, and would welcome your best suggestions for trainers. Would prefer a small group OR 1:1 training in our home. We really want to do this right, as our past couple of dogs definitely failed puppy training and had long term barking/jumping issues (I take full human blame for it!). I searched the archives and they seem a bit dated. Thanks!

Oakland Dog Training (Jacuzzi st..on way to Costco).. outstanding trainers, using positive approach.  We trained all over East Bay--and then found them.  Highly recommend.     https://oaklanddogtraining.org/     - -- Why not start working with your puppy at home 1st?  1:1 training is expensive..which is ok in the beginning. BUT all dogs need to be socialized --around other dogs, around unknown people, shopping centers---as early as possible.  Just taking your pup to a shopping center is excellent exposure.  I do NOT recommend any dog park.  Our experience is that pups get traumatized in dog parks because other owners don't spend time/$ on helping their dogs be good beings. --- Also there's some good online, free youtube offerings. Please stay away from Cesar Millan (youtube) he doesn't use positive training, etc.   --- All the best.

I recommend Bravo Pup!

We have done a combination of group classes and private coaching. All the teachers are excellent. We worked with Katy privately.
There are also “puppy socials” which I recommend, too.

Bravo Pup!
