Writing. Reading. English. Oh, my!

I'm a writer and editor who, years ago, found professional colleagues and kids I came across (I'm an Albany dad) asking me to help them write and prepare for tests. So I put on a teacher hat, and I've never taken it off. I also served for a decade as the executive director of WriterCoach Connection, an East Bay nonprofit that works with students in class to develop their writing and reading skills. 

I work with all grade levels, and my clients tend to be long-term, sometimes from middle school through college. I work with students on writing, reading, English, and test prep, including college-application essays, PSAT/SAT/ACT and AP Lang and AP Lit. (I was an AP Lang adjunct teacher in Oakland public schools for several years.) My specialty is meeting students where they are with patience and positive reinforcement to develop confidence in their writing, reading, and English skills, and over the years, I've worked with many English learners. My sessions are one-on-one via Zoom.

My rate is $75 per one-hour Zoom session. I do not charge for lesson prep, lesson documentation, or parent communication.
