Trans queer writing, study skills, and executive functioning tutor

Hello families,

My name is River, and I’m a California native, trans & non-binary tutor. I would love the opportunity to help your kid(s) navigate these strange, stressful times to reach their goals. As a tutor, in addition to subject-specific support, I teach study skills, executive functioning (the “how” of school), and life skills, including communication, conflict management, and self-advocacy.

I discovered a love for teaching while getting my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in education. While in school, I tutored college level writing and elementary reading, I taught social dance, and I facilitated a course in interpersonal communication. Since then I have gained 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience.  

My approach encourages curiosity and creative problem solving in multiple modes of learning to break concepts down in different ways for my students. I have experience tutoring students with chronic executive dysfunction due to ADHD and autism. I am a trans and queer affirming educator.

I prefer to tutor online, but in-person is possible based on location and COVID safety.

I offer flexible rates: Online $35-$60 per hour, In-home $45-$70 per hour
