Special educator with 30 years in the field, dedicated to literacy skills and early intervention, individualized to meet the specific needs of each child
I have dedicated my entire career to the field of special education, beginning in the early 1990s. Over three decades, I have supported students with all types, degrees & combinations of special needs, from mild to moderate to severe.
I have also worn many different hats, so to speak, working as a special day class teacher, a resource specialist, a case manager for Deaf-Blind students, a teacher of Deaf & hard of hearing students, a K-5 education specialist, a special education attorney & currently, an education specialist in private practice. My training includes a graduate degree in special education, a law degree, & an education specialist credential.
One of my professional passions is providing carefully tailored, evidence based literacy instruction for struggling readers. We know that reading is the single most difficult, important & rewarding skill students encounter in school. I am trained & have three decades of experience providing Orton Gillingham based literacy instruction.
I am also passionate about early intervention, because it is far easier to prevent than to later reverse and remediate learning challenges. As such, I am dedicated to serving young students & preventing pervasive learning deficits.
My office is located in Berkeley. I offer a free consultation for all families & a sliding fee scale based on demonstrated financial hardship or need.
