Personable Patient Experienced Independent School Teacher (virtual and in-person availability)
Hello! My name is Erin, and I am a passionate educator and science advocate with 14 years of experience teaching in Bay Area and East Coast independent schools. I have taught varying levels of Biology, elective classes, and Conceptual Physics. I have stepped back from the classroom due to family demands, but would love to continue working with young people as they learn about the beauty of the natural world, work to hone their lab writing skills, and organize their varying class demands.
As a classroom teacher, I developed lesson plans with critical thinking and understanding, not memorization, at the core of each class. I regularly presented material for multiple learning modes: having my students draw diagrams, act processes out, create models, engage with labs to observe reactions, analyze data and draw conclusions, and apply their knowledge of a topic with case studies. I have also worked with dozens of students over the years to optimize their executive function, helping them organize and plan out their work in my class as well as finding a balance for all their classes, at times engaging in daily check-in for the schedule that we developed.
I welcome virtual sessions and am available for in-person tutoring during their free periods at school and after school hours.
