Math/Science Tutor: PhD, Credential, 15 years experience

Is your child struggling with math or science?  You need a tutor with a PhD, teaching credential and 15 years teaching experience!  My degrees and credentials are in physics, geophysics, and chemistry, and I have taught every grade from kindergarten through college.  Students love my warm, personal style and the way I connect everything back to real-world experiences. One recently said "I LOVE her! She makes math fun!".   I come to you, and can bring demonstrations and experiments as appropriate. My nominal rate is $75/hour, but I can offer discounts for longer tutoring sessions, financial need, or locations near my Oakland home. Please let me know what you need, and we can negotiate.

I also offer home school classes! My ocean science course is particularly well-received. We usually start by exploring marine biodiversity and evolution, ecosystems and food networks, genetics and adaptations. Then we move on to ocean physics, studying tides, waves and circulation. Exploring buoyancy can lead to some interesting engineering projects. We always wrap up with human impacts on the ocean, and ways kids can be empowered to make a difference. This is a great opportunity to make and test solar cookers and phone chargers. Depending on your preferences, the class can also include creative expressions such as art and storytelling about the ocean.
