MATH ANXIETY BE GONE! Tutoring by Experienced Math Teacher
You rarely hear people confess, "I'm not good in English." But those very same people will tell me "I'm not good in math" as soon as I tell them I am a math teacher. Why is that? I think it's because people who develop math anxiety need a slower-paced approach, with plenty of time for conversation, taught by a patient and sensitive teacher, but they never had one.
"Tralee is an enthusiastic, thorough, patient educator, and my students enjoy working with her. She has a way of holding them to high standards." Redwood Day School Teacher
Since 2012, I have privately tutored grades 6-8, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Math 1 and 2. Before then, I taught classroom math for 10 years in Alameda County. Currently, I volunteer as a math tutor at Berkeley Independent Study. Read BPN reviews here.
What sets me apart from other math tutors is my counseling background which I use to build confidence, establish rapport, teach self-reflection, reduce anxiety, and enjoy our time together. Parents tell me they wish they had contacted me earlier.
I tutor in a few locations: in my Emeryville condominium library (across from Public Market), by Zoom, or at a convenient coffee shop or library. My rate is $85/hour.
