Flute and piano teacher
I'm Anette Skloot and I have over twenty years experience teaching flute, recorder, and piano in group and individual settings starting in my native Sweden. I have over the years taught students ranging from 3 to 73 years old. I earned my degree in music at UC Berkeley and have, in addition to running my own music studio, taught in various after-school programs, including The Crowden School, Starland Music School, East Bay Waldorf School, Saint Joseph’s The Worker School while occasionally working as a choir accompanist.
I have developed a curriculum tailored for students of all ages and levels. The curriculum includes method books (Piano Pronto/ Trevor Wye), theory, sight reading, tone production, repertoire, rhythm, games, and lots of duets. I also offer biannual recitals in my home studio. The atmosphere is very relaxed, supportive and casual.
For as long as I can remember, I have been playing music and for almost as long I have known that I wanted to be a music teacher. What I want to pass onto my students is that same love and passion for music that would last them a lifetime. I aim to create an environment in my studio that is at the same time both low-key and goal oriented.
