Experienced Tutor Works With Folks On The Spectrum
I have been tutoring in the South Bay for the past 7 years or more. I started while studying at Stanford, and never stopped. I have always had an interest in working with students who have Learning Disabilities, and over the past three years, I have had the opportunity to work extensively with non-speaking / minimally speaking children and adults on the Autism Spectrum.
I am not certified to use a letter board, but I have several years of experience with multiple clients.
My experience is not limited to LD work. I have tutored just about every standard course in middle and high school, with an emphasis on English Language classes (I was a literature major), History courses including AP US and AP Euro, and SAT prep.
It is a unique set of skills!
I specialize in forming a strong working relationship with my clients, and often spend several years working with students.
While I believe that accountability is key to a successful tutoring/coaching relationship, if you are after a disciplinarian, I will probably not be the right tutor for you. I believe that motivation is rarely the issue (especially for those with autism) and addressing the deeper issues that affect motivation is the key to long term success in one's school and career.
