Experienced Teacher-Tutor Looking for Students to Tutor/Mentor!
I have been teaching for 5+ years throughout the Bay (Berkeley, Oakland, SF, Richmond), working with students of all ages (preschool - high school), abilities, backgrounds, and in almost all K-12 subjects. I have worked as a full-time SPED teacher and love developing strategies for students with disabilities or learning differences. I have a BA in Cognitive Science from UC Berkeley with a minor in Education, so I have a deep understanding of children's cognitive development and effective pedagogical strategies that I integrate into my teaching.
I absolutely love teaching and building relationships with students, but I'm looking to transition out of teaching full-time to pursue my art, organize my own classes, and work with students 1:1 or in small groups. My teaching philosophy is engaging, holistic, and student-centered. I believe that teachers should engage with students as whole people and that students' well-being is just as important as their academics (no kid is going to learn if they're tired, bored, upset, etc!). While I am happy to focus strictly on academics with your student, I'm really passionate about building students' resiliency, excitement about learning, and organizational/social-emotional skills.
I'm available for in-person or online tutoring/mentoring. Please contact me to talk about how I can support your child!
