Experienced, compassionate tutoring to build on students’ strengths

I help young young people (ages 8 and up) to gain confidence and skill as readers, writers, and lifelong learners. 

It is my pleasure support your child in learning to articulate ideas and get them down on the page in a clear, well-organized and often even beautiful form. As a teacher, tutor, and writing coach, I have worked with dozens of students. I provide the individual attention and feedback they need to improve their writing fluency and composition skills. My lessons help students to recognize and use their own strengths to develop their academic abilities.

For homework support, I guide student toward the skills they need to understand and meet or exceed expectations. I can also develop an independent academic enrichment program  to match the student’s goals and needs. Services include test prep and support for college essays

In person at your home or a library or cafe in Berkeley, Albany, and nearby communities. 

Qualifications:

-25+ years’ experience as a teacher and tutor

-UC Berkeley MA in Education

-Secondary English Credential

-Summer teacher with UC Berkeley Academic Talent Development Program

Rate: $50/hour
