Compassionate K-8 Tutor: Empowering Every Learner

Hi BPN Community! My name is Jenny Appelgren and I am a teacher with 15 years of teaching experience in a diverse public school setting. I have taught all elementary levels PreK - 6, including special education. I have my master's degree in special education, and extensive experience providing targeted intervention in the general ed setting. I have experience working with students of all exceptionalities. I am creative in helping all students succeed in reading, writing, and math. I specialize in teaching learners of all ages how to read, write, and spell, using a multi-sensory approach to reading. I can also provide lessons to support diverse learners develop their executive processing and organization skills, social skills, problem solving skills, and emotional regulation skills. I am passionate about helping students to understand their strengths and build their own self confidence by differentiating my methods to meet each student's unique needs for them to be successful in the classroom and beyond.

My availability is flexible. My rate is $80/hour. I can provide tutoring services at your home in Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, and surrounding areas, at a nearby library, or virtually.
