I'm going to be teaching for a week at a conference center in San Rafael in July and rather than commute back and forth to Oakland am thinking of taking my 6 year old daughter with me and having her take the Lego Camp at San Domenico. Are there any listers with experience of this camp?? Are there other Marin camps you would suggest?? Amy
For the last four summers, I have taught a newspaper class at a great day camp in Marin. It is called Turtle Rock Institute and is help on the Marin Country Day School campus in Corte Madera. Here is the website: http://www.turtlerockinstitute.org/
The kids really seem to have a great time at the camp. In the morning, there are classroom offerings (such as my newspaper class), and the afternoons focus on sports. My daughter is too young to attend now, but I plan on signing her up once she is old enough.
Also, in high school and college, I worked as a counselor and as the director of Angel Island Day Camp (run through the Tiburon Rec Center). It was a long time ago, so I don't know what has changed. But taking the ferry to camp each day and spending the day on a beautiful island in S.F. Bay was an amazing experience. At the time, the camp offered a mix of sports and arts and crafts. Liz
