Veronica's Daycare

Veronica is the BEST! I trust her completely, so much so that when we had our second child, we immediately contacted her to confirm if she had room. She is extremely compassionate, very play-based which is perfect for language development and learning social emotional skills. She supports her kiddos where they are at. The schedule is perfect with most days the entire crew goes to the park to play at an age appropriate park for littles. She communicates very effectively when anything changes. Her schedule worked very well for our family and both my kids developed life long friendships as a result of Veronica. She helps with potty training when the time comes. The kids were always happy when I picked them up.  She really does care for our babies and kids and it shows. We are truly thankful for Veronica and would recommend her to any family we meet that needs childcare. 

Our son was born at the beginning of the Pandemic. As a lot of parents, we wanted to make sure our child would be taken care of with kindness, attention and safety. We found Veronica through word of mouth when we were looking for something when our son turned 1. Because of the times, he didn’t see many people. With that and his age, daycare was a struggle at first but after a month he adjusted well with Veronica. Eventually he would start asking about her and the other children when he was stuck at home with us. Haha. Veronica has the patience and experience to work with different types of needs. The location of her daycare is great with the surrounding playgrounds and library for outdoor story time. It’s amazing to see our son bloom in her care this past year. Our whole family is going to miss her when we move. 

Our son was with Veronica for the past two years. As a parent, nothing is more important than knowing that your child will be loved, supported, nurtured, and appropriately challenged in a fun, consistent, and caring environment when you can’t be with them. She supported our sleep training, potty training, and parenting philosophies; and supported his BIG toddler emotions in a caring way. Her family is also a joy, with our son always thrilled every time he was able to interact with them.

Even during COVID, Veronica went above and beyond, creating a safe space for the kids when legally able, one where all involved felt confident and comfortable, and made adjustments with clear communication.

We don’t have family here, which is another reason we’re so thankful for Veronica, she really became an extension of our family. If you’re looking for a safe, small-scale, and welcoming daycare, this is your spot. Clear and reasonable boundaries.

We are so sad to leave, but alas preschool awaits. 

We LOVE Veronica!! I can barely put into words how grateful we are for her. We are so fortunate to have such a loving, warm and caring person care for both of our kids. She is truly amazing. My 2 kids are both VERY different. Veronica is perceptive to both of their personalities and supports their growth. She truly loves our kids like her own.

Most importantly our kids have fun and LOVE it there! They go outside everyday, either on a walk or to the park. They have consistent routines and are continually engaged. They run to the door smiling and laughing - sometimes don't want to leave! 

I couldn't have asked for a better person to care for my kids. I am forever grateful for the loving care Veronica has provided for our family <3

We've had at least one child in Veronica's care during the course of the last five years and I can't say enough wonderful things about her!  First off, she and her family feel like part of our family -- that's how warm and welcoming she is to the children in her care and to the families in her community.  She is truly caring and creates such a special environment for the kids.  On top of that, she's a pro and a natural -- exactly the type of person you want your kids to be with when you're not there.  She's incredibly conscientious and we always knew our kids were in the best hands when they were at Veronica's.  When my daughter graduated to preschool and my son was at Veronica's, my daughter would always look forward to any opportunity to visit Veronica, and Veronica was always equally excited to see my daughter.  Both my kids have such a special bond with Veronica and her family, and it is so heartwarming.  We honestly just feel so lucky to have found Veronica and to have had her support over these last 5 years.  Don't hesitate to reach out to Veronica if you're looking for childcare - she's absolutely the best! 

Veronica is the best !! She offers a nurturing, loving, calm, inviting and fun home environment. My daughter Maeve spent the last 2.5 years with Veronica and has responded so well to clear expectations, consistent routines, loving care, and an engaging environment. When my daughter was an infant, Veronica was extremely helpful to me as a new parent. She takes the time to communicate all the little details parents want to know and is very consistent with following parent requests. While Veronica runs the daycare on her own, her entire family is loving and engaging with the children. Her two adult daughters and husband are some of my daughters favorite people and definitely have "celebrity" status. Maeve has loved their daily song and dance parties and trips to the local park, where she has made even more friends in the community. Maeve has certainly thrived while in Veronica's loving care and we couldn't be more grateful. If you can get a spot here.. TAKE IT!!  Highly Recommend !! 

The only struggle I had in writing this review was finding the right words to express just how wonderful Veronica and her family are.  Veronica provides a safe, happy, and engaging environment for all the little ones in her daycare.  Over the two years that our daughter spent there, we saw her grow, make friends, and thrive under Veronica’s care.  From the very start, Veronica was immensely helpful with a sleep schedule and she was incredibly responsive to me and all my questions as a new (and likely overbearing mom) who was struggling with leaving our little one to go back to work.

As soon as our daughter could walk, she would run into Veronica’s house excitedly upon being dropped off.  As our daughter grew it made my heart warm to walk in and see the kids dancing or playing with puzzles or reading with Veronica.  Many nights at home, a song would come on that I had never heard before, and our daughter would start dancing and singing saying, “I heard it at Roca’s house.” Or I’d pick out a book at the library and she’d say, “Oh mama, I read that at Roca’s.”  To me, those little moments evidenced the love and care that Veronica shows for all under her charge. 

Importantly to me, each day Veronica takes the all the children to a small park by her house or the library and they get plenty of opportunities to run around and just be kids!

Looking through the other reviews I also want to echo what has already been said about Veronica. She provides clear and sensible boundaries.  She is AMAZING to work with as a parent. Her house is a source of calm – I swear some days I would come in and sit on the floor with her and the children and it would be the highlight of my day. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough and if we are lucky enough to have a second child we will definitely be going back to Veronica’s.

We can't recommend Veronica's day care enough! In a nutshell:

If you are looking for a small, loving, family-based environment for your little one, go and visit Veronica. First and foremost, the kids are happy and have fun. Veronica is a great mom herself, steady, calm and loving with the kids. She sets clear boundaries and has a very sensible and experienced approach to raising kids. She is great to work with as a parent (clear and easy communication channels, flexible, intuitive). The calm that wafts out of her house at pick-up time is infectious. Plus she gives great hugs!

We feel SO happy and lucky to have found Veronica. Our son has been with her for a year (since the age of 18 months) and has loved playing with the babies and older kids he has met there. He goes on daily walks, plays his little heart out, and is happy and fulfilled at the end of the day when I pick him up.

Veronica's husband and grown-up daughters are as loving and caring as she is, and can often be found sitting on the floor at the end of the day reading books and making puzzles with the kids too.

Veronica always has a smile on her face and a hug in her arms. As newcomers to Oakland she has been like family to us and we will miss seeing her every day when our little guy joins his big brother at pre-school in the fall.
