About the Program:

Nido is a small home-based program run by three experienced early childhood educators. We are guided by the approaches of RIE and Reggio Emilia, and believe in bringing respect and authenticity into every interaction with children and families. Our environments are thoughtfully curated with loose parts, natural materials, and documentation that focuses on inclusive representation, community building, and reflections of children's learning. Nido is situated in a sweet little house with a lovely yard full of fruit trees, which we offer access to freely throughout the day. We serve children ages 3 months-48 months in the lower Rockridge/Temescal community.

Nido is truly a gem of a daycare, offering an exceptional environment for young children. My family and I have been fortunate to experience firsthand what makes this small, home-based program so special. From the moment we toured Nido, we knew it was unlike any other daycare. The space is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed, with a focus on natural materials that inspire curiosity and creativity in children. The outdoor area, with its fruit trees and access to nature, is a wonderful extension of the learning environment, giving children the freedom to explore throughout the day.

What sets Nido apart is the educators' deep understanding of child development, their commitment to clear parent-teacher communication, and their dedication to building an authentic community. Caitie, Meg, and Natalie view each child as a capable and unique individual, fostering an atmosphere of respect, authenticity, and emotional support. Whether guiding children through their emotions or honoring their interests, they create a space where children can explore, create, and learn on their own timeline.

For us, Nido has been the perfect fit for our daughter, who started attending just after turning two. The small group size ensures each child receives individualized attention, while the strong sense of community among the families and educators makes it feel like an extended family. Nido is truly the gold standard in child care. We couldn’t have found a better place, and we are grateful every day.

Nido has been the best gift to our family and, most importantly, our daughter, who was 14 months when she started. We toured most toddler daycares in our area, and none compared to Nido. The home daycare space is thoughtfully designed with developmentally appropriate and engaging activities aimed to encourage creativity and curiosity. The teachers — Meg, Natalie, and Caitie — truly understand child development and create an environment where the children can explore, create, and learn at their own pace. Meg, Natalie, and Caitie view children as capable individuals and communicate with them respectfully. They do not gender the children and support each child to see and experience everything everyday their own way as their truest little self. They help the children understand their emotions, work through them as needed, and learn to communicate their needs. If they see a child is interested in something, they hone it on it and bring it to life — be that trash trucks, animals, books, balls, dogs, cooking, etc.

If you are looking for a nurturing environment where your child will be truly seen, respected, and supported in their development, look no further. The small group size, experienced educators, and research-backed teaching approaches make Nido the gold standard.
