My Little Carousel

Our son has been at MLC since September 2024 and I can say without a doubt that we are beyond lucky to have found this wonderful daycare. Laura, Marcelo and grandma are so good with the little ones and you can tell they are truly treat like family when they are there. Laura is a kind and communicative caregiver and Marcelo is so good with the babies (my son reaches out for him at drop off which is so heartwarming). We toured several daycares before deciding on MLC and are so thankful that an infant spot was open. As noted, they are communicative and flexible. This in-home daycare is very clean and has developmentally appropriate toys for babies as well as toddlers. Our son's development has blossomed while there. He doesn't cry at drop off and is genuinely so happy when I pick him up every day. They also serve healthy, home cooked meals and are very good with maintaining consistency with children's schedules. They've truly helped so much with introducing solids and giving our little guy a variety of food during the day.  As many parents do, I initially struggled with returning to work after maternity leave last fall, but I have felt so much better since finding MLC and seeing how happy my little guy is there. If you are lucky enough to find a spot open there, don't hesitate to send your little one. They will be in the best hands. 

Both my kiddos have been under the care of Ms. Laura, Marcelo and grandma, the youngest getting ready to graduate soon. This small family daycare is located in near east oakland (easy to get to from Maxwell park area, Fruitvale). They are the most loving, thoughtful and reliable people, teach the kiddos developmentally appropriate everything, make delicious food for them everyday, potty train in a smooth seemless way, give them lots of play outside when the weather permits. I don't worry one bit while they're at daycare, as I know they are well taken care of by this family. The kids come home happy, well rested and nourished consistently, every day. My kiddo can also now understand Spanish too, which is an obvious plus. I wish everyone could have such an amazing option as we were fortunate enough to fall upon.

I love My Little Carousel.  I brough my son here right before he turned 3 years old and he is still there, albeit part time.  Laura has worked with our child with ASD with the utmost care and communication to ensure we are all on the same page with his goals and progress. She gives updates and ideas for support outside of the home, and is vigilant in staying up to date with his IEP goals through OUSD and through his private speech therapist.  We saw an immediate change with our son in terms of his ability to focus, take part in group activities and advance his language, within months of sending him there. She truly believes in working as a team with the parents to ensure the best for their child who she treats as family.  The home cooked meals, flexibility with working parents and compassion she exhibits to all the families in the community is a true blessing.  We are thankful that Laura has made such a continuous and positive impact in our lives.
