At Carquinez Garden School we believe that children learn best through playful inquiry with ample time outdoors.
Learning evolves from the children’s problems and questions as the engage with the world around them. Our pedagogy is rooted in understanding of child development, with an emphasis in social emotional learning, expression through the myriad languages of childhood and days spent playing outside. We maintain a passionate commitment to social and environmental justice, inclusion and equity. Our goal is to provide an educational experience that celebrates the beauty of diversity and models community centered learning.

We love this school! My son started here at 2, and is now 3.5. Not only does the school focus on play-based learning, the outdoors, and gardening, the have an intentional and gentle approach toward developing each individual student’s social skills. Our family is excited to have our daughter begin school there in the fall too.
Another plus, potty training is not a requirement. The staff supported us the whole way with our son learning to use the potty too. There is room in the twos class for the fall. We found a full-time schedule offered the most consistency for our son.
