Toddler destinations parks in Walnut Creek
Sept 2011
I have two appointments for my toddler daughter in Walnut Creek on the same day, with about 4 hours of time in between them. I'd rather not drive home and back, as I live 1/2 hour away. Are there any nice parks, hands-on museums, or other locations where we might enjoyably spend a couple of hours between appointments that are in that area?
I highly recommend the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek. They have live animals as well as stuffed. They are a kids museum and the museum is right next to Larkey Park, so you have hours of entertainment between the Museum and Park. The only tricky part is that the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so hopefully your appointment is not on one of those days. As a kid I went to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum and now my almost 3 year old goes and loves it. Here is the Lindsay Museum's website: http://www.wildlife-museum.org/ Fellow Toddler Mama
The Lindsay Wildlife Museum is wonderful for little ones. There also is a nice park right next to the museum. A perfect way to spend a couple of spare hours in WC. http://www.wildlife-museum.org/ Thru the Tunnel Mom
Your best bet is Civic Park in Walnut Creek. You can play at the park, then walk over to the library if your child gets bored of the park. If she's in a stroller, you guys can then stroll over to the shopping areas in downtown Walnut Creek and grab a bite to eat, or get a smoothie from Jamba Juice, do some shopping at Nordstrom's, or play in the fountains. There are enough options to keep her and you plenty entertained for 3-4 hours.
If you're just looking for a big park in Walnut Creek, there's also Heather Farms park - there's a museum there too, I think. The park's huge, but when we last went and I think this is always the case, the geese droppings were abundant.
Another good option if you're wanting to get a stroll in or some exercise is the Lafayette Reservoir. They have a really cute play structure area, and then a 3-mile loop for a nice walk/run. Enjoy WC! a local WC'er
