Try Monterey Dunes Colony located not in Monterey, but a few miles north in Castroville (the artichoke capital of the world). There a whole bunch of houses with many different size 2-5 bedrooms, I think. Your back sliding glass door opens up on to a boardwalk to the beach (maybe 50 yards away). I believe there are no such thing as private beaches in calfornia, but these are pretty close - the strip of beachfront houses is maybe 1.5 miles long, so no one but residents are on the beach. Many units have personal hot tubs as well, but there is also a central clubhouse with tennis courts, jacuzzi and saunas.
