RE: Looking for an Affordable violin/viola teacher for 16yo
The prices you were quoted seem to be right in the range of what music teachers ask. (For teachers for both my children, the cost was $60 per hour or $50 for 45 minutes.) Aside from that, I can very highly recommend Kaila Flexer ((510) 532-1531). She teaches all forms of string instruments and has been an amazing teacher for our daughter Natasha. Natasha progressed very rapidly, enjoying herself (and rarely practicing). ~ Laurel

RE: Violin lessons in Oakland for 7 year old
I would like to recommend my daughter's violin teacher, Kaila Flexer, who is an excellent musician and wonderful with kids--she really has a knack to inspire them on the fiddle. My daughter has been working with Kaila for about 3 years, since her 7th birthday. Kaila's repertoire is varied and she seems well able to adapt to different learning styles apart from the traditional violin exercises.

RE: Fiddle Lessons for 10 year old
Kaila Flexer is an amazing fiddle teacher, performer, and composer. My 10-yr-old daughter has been taking lessons from Kaila for 4 years, and she loves it. Kaila is fun, inventive, and creative. She and my daughter laugh A LOT during the lessons, and my daughter is inspired both to play songs she already knows and to stretch with new material. Highly recommended! You can check out her website at www.kailaflexer.com for more info, and to hear the music she plays and performs with her band, Teslim, You can contact her directly at kaila [at] kailaflexer.com (kaila[at]kailaflexer[dot]com).
