  • Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience with Bay Explorers Camp, by Afterschool University? It looks interesting, but I can't find any reviews or information about it (or Afterschool University) online. I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has participated in this camp, or in AU's after-school programs.
    Thanks.

My son just finished a week of it and absolutely loved it. They go all around the bay doing fun activities that are a kids dream and the staff are amazing with the kids. I kind of wish this camp was around when I was a kid. This is an example of a possible schedule:

    Monday: Tilden & Mini-Golf
Tuesday: Day at the Movies: Pixar's Inside Out 2
    Wednesday: Rankin Aquatic Center

    Thursday:  Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    Friday: Hurricane Harbor

My son is in this afterschool program and spending four weeks at the Bay Explorers Camp. He enjoys all the activities the teachers prepare. They try to get the kids outdoors as much as possible and take good care of them. We're satisfied with this program and see our son excited to be part of it. Let me know if you have other specific questions.

    Hi There,

Yes we had our kids attend a last minute winter camp there.  It's quite disorganized, unfortunately but the kids did not seem to notice.  Also, all of their deposits are totally non refundable, even if you cancel months in advance.  The helpers seem to be nice but do note that the owner smokes cigarettes (which I love!) but I can understand that parents do not want their kids around such behaviour.

  • I recently learned about Afterschool University and it's new Solano Avenue location. From my reserach the program is traditionally associated with Albany schools and UC Village. This new location also states that it partners with Thousand Oaks in BUSD. Could parents who have enrolled their child in the program share their likes and dislikes?

Hi there, just want to make sure that you and other members of the community are aware that the program you referenced is not associated with UC Berkeley or University Village Albany (UVA).

The University Village Albany Afterschool Program is run by UC Berkeley, is located on-site at UVA, and provides after-school programs for grades K-5, with transportation provided from Cornell, Oceanview and Marin elementary schools.
